Outdoor Leadership
The Outdoor Leadership programme has been designed specifically to facilitate learners seeking a pathway to employment in the outdoor and adventure tourism industry. Successful candidates will graduate with multiple qualifications from QQI, National Governing Bodies (NGB) for Sport and Coaching Ireland.
Level 6 Outdoor leadership is a continuation programme from the Outdoor Adventure Education QQI level 5.
Alternative route of access include:
- Completion of a SOLAS course in Outdoor activity Instruction at QQI level 5.
- Industry experience equivalent to the course outcome of Outdoor Adventure Education QQI level 5.

For entry to Level 6, a full QQI Level 5 in a complementary area is required or completion of NGB intermediate awards in sailing, windsurfing, powerboating and river kayaking 2. All applicants will be required to attend an interview 3. An offer of a place on this course means the applicant has met the minimum entry requirements set out here and satisfactory presentation at interview |

About The Course
The Outdoor Leadership programme has been designed specifically to facilitate learners seeking a pathway to employment in the outdoor and adventure tourism industry.
Successful candidates will graduate with multiple qualifications from QQI, National Governing Bodies (NGB) for Sport and Coaching Ireland. Through practical experiential activities, learners develop personal skills and competencies in outdoor activity modules and then learn how to apply those skills to instruct and train others in the various outdoor activity areas.
The programme provides candidates with the opportunity to obtain the necessary skills to earn a variety of professional instructor training awards that lead directly to employment in the industry.

Work Placement/Experience
Work Experience
Participants will be required to undertake 10 days of work placement in a suitable area. The college will assist participants in identifying suitable placements.
