Work Experience / Work Practice

Work Experience / Work Practice:

Work Experience: Students will apply for and spend a minimum of ten days on work experience in a placement related to their course of study. Some of the best learning takes place during this experience which offers the chance of real hands-on activities and tasks. Students keep a journal of their activities and reflect on their performance. Planning and preparation includes producing documents such as a current CV, letter of application, a skills audit, a career plan and an analysis of the industry/sector being studied. Work related legislation will be covered to ensure students understand their rights and responsibilities. The workplace supervisor will complete an assessment form based on the student’s performance.

Work Practice: Students doing this module will apply for and spend a minimum of 40 days in an organisation related to their course of study. They will keep an account of their daily activities and evaluate and reflect on their performance.

Research will be carried out into an organisation, its structure, functions, policies etc. Work-related legislation will be covered to ensure students understand their rights and responsibilities. The workplace employer will complete an assessment form based on the student’s performance.
